A unique aspect of the veer option drill was incorporating a second football in which the quarterback and fullback achieve the mesh phase with the fullback getting the handoff, then the quarterback subsequently taking a proper handoff from a coach and then performing the pitch phase. Watch defensive drills consisting of defensive linemen learning to defeat down blocks and reach blocks. Later, defensive linemen are taught the "Pull/Slide" drill in achieving gap control and subsequent pass rush. This is followed by a pursuit drill with the defensive line and inside linebackers.
